This concert was part of a civic celebration honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Proceeds went to the Martin Luther King Memorial Fund to erect a life-size statue of Dr. King in the Buffalo park bearing his name. The concert was simulcasted live by WNED-TV on the PBS network.
